About Me.

Picture
I first became interested in photography whilst on a school holiday in Wales. Wanting to record my first holiday in Wales I decided to purchase an Ilford 127 film camera during a lunch stop at a town enroute to our destination. I paid the princely sum of £1.2.6p (112 p in todays decimal coinage). During the next couple of years my interest in photography grew and I was given a Paxette 35mm camera that took inter-changeable lenses. My interest then switched from prints to colourslides and I remained with this medium for several years. I was a member of Colchester Camera Club for many years as well as helping to found Mersea Island Photographic Society. Throughout the years I have had many cameras ranging from a Russian Zenit- my first SLR and built like a tank!- then I moved to a Praktica costing £27 which stood me in good stead for many years until I moved up to a Canon A1. My last film camera was an EOS 500 which is still in the cupboard. During my 'film' years I processed my own slide films and also made myself a small darkroom in which I produced prints from my colourslides.
Nowadays I use only digital cameras and being able to produce prints without the mess of chemicals etc has helped to maintain my interest in photography.
