QUEEN'S SILVER JUBILEE PARADE. WEST MERSEA 1977 Sorry about the quality but the photographs scanned were originally done on lustre paper which doesn't give the best sharpness
SEVENTIES SCENE Here is a selection of pictures that I took in the early seventies when I lived in Mersea. Some places have changed very little whilst other areas have changed drastically. The open fields and wooded areas where I played as a child have now given way to housing. The unmade roads around the Empess Avenue/Willoughby Avenue area where the local Milk & Bread delivery vans were up to their axles in the winter have all been 'made-up'
Above: 4 scenes of The Hard/Coast Road area in 1973
Springtime in the school gardens 1974.

Corner of Melrose Road/Barfield Road. The 'Whitings' lived in part of the white buildings.
Previous to Pixies Rag Trade this was for many years Mason's Dairy shop. The large building nextdoor replaced the old Home Kitchen.
